Residents of Laguna Vista are invited to attend a special groundbreaking ceremony, on Monday, January 26, 2026, at 5:30pm, to celebrate the start of exciting improvements at Roloff Park.
The ceremony is to “kickoff” a $300,000 park improvement project which is being paid for with a $150,000 grant from the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department and a $150,000 local match from Town of Laguna Vista’s capital outlay budget.
Mayor Michael Carter and Council Members Teresa Bryant, Mike Hernandez, Johvonne Howard, Alexia Perez, Kenneth Cornelius and Dr. Christopher Romero will be doing the honors of breaking ground.
Some of the initial improvements will be the installation of a new musical playground module, improving and expanding the walking trail, and adding new surface to the existing playground modules.
Other improvements will include new park benches, picnic stations, and appropriate signage throughout the park. Finally, but not least, the open space will be modified to serve as a sports field, as well.
As stated by Mayor Carter, “We are so proud, this park improvement project has been long in coming but is here now. So, please come and join us and move this great project forward!”
